About

Hi, I’m Jennifer. Welcome to my virtual kitchen where life isn’t always easy but it’s usually delicious. I’m a wife, mother of two grown humans and one French Bulldog with selective hearing and my shared passion for cheese

I discovered my love for cooking as a young adult when I volunteered to help prepare meals for my family while my mother was recovering from surgery. Up until then, I had never cooked a thing in my life and because my mother viewed cooking as a chore, she had no interest in teaching me. So, with the help of a good cookbook, I embarked on a journey that had me turning out creative meals day after day.

Before long, the kitchen became my emotional haven. Here I learned that misreading a recipe and using the wrong ingredient or two can sometimes lead to a beautiful outcome and that time spent chopping vegetables or cleaning up a mess left behind by an overfilled blender would give me time to sort through my feelings (good and bad) and take a deep calming breath. Successful outcomes were celebrated and failures were often completely overlooked when I “neglected” to mention that I had attempted to create something entirely different. The kitchen became my domain and, during difficult moments in my life, I would usually emerge from it in a far better mood than when I had entered it while also having the satisfaction of knowing that I had nourished the people I loved. It was a win, win.

Hours spent in my kitchen have and continue to teach me about life, social connections, traditions (both old and new) and human spirit. This blog is where I’ll share the lessons I continue to learn, insights that I’ve gained along the way, tid bits about my life, my family, the places I love to visit and I’ll share some recipes for food that continues to inspire me and bring me comfort. So pull up a seat at my kitchen counter, take a look around, and let’s chat.
