Dulce De Leche Macchiato Martini

Venti caramel macchiato, skim milk, extra hot, no foam, with whip. That’s my husband’s drink of choice (eye roll). Mine on the other hand is a nice cold glass of Sauvignon Blanc. See the problem?

I have to admit that I do enjoy an occasional visit to Starbucks for an almond milk latte or a dirty chai.

But, whenever I want to have a glass of wine at home, or any other alcoholic beverage for that matter, I end up drinking alone. So, I decided to try and remedy this situation by whipping up a drink that Gary and I could both enjoy.

And, because it’s Thursday, or Friday Eve as I like to call it, this seemed like the perfect way to start our weekend. The result was so incredibly delicious and one that Gary actually finished entirely (alcohol and all).

Maybe I’m a bad influence but I may have a convert on my hands.

The Dishy Details

This drink literally comes together in a matter of minutes. A quick blend of Bailey’s Irish cream, Kahlua, vodka, espresso and pure vanilla extract in a martini shaker with lots of ice produced the most decadent and yummy drink.

But, of course, I had to put my own spin on it so I poured the whole thing over a scoop of vanilla ice cream (Gary’s favorite) and topped it off with dulce de leche. No skim milk here!

Then I served it all in a dulce de leche and black lava sea salt rimmed glass.

The sweet, creamy dulce de leche combined with coarse sea salt is an amazing compliment to the coffee drink.

And, as good as this drink is right off the bat, it’s even better as the ice cream begins to melt and meld with the alcohol, which sort of reminds me of a boozy milkshake, but so much better.

Of course the dulce de leche can easily be replaced with any good caramel sauce that you have and the black lava sea salt is completely optional, or can easily be swapped out for regular sea salt. I just happened to find it here and thought it would make a fun addition to the drink.

I hope that you decide to give this Dulce de Leche Macchiato Martini a whirl. If you do, please let me know what you think or tag me on Instagram. I always love to hear from everyone and to see photos of any recipes that you make. And, above all, thanks so much for stopping by.
