Mulled Wine

The morning after Thanksgiving, is the laziest, easiest day of the year in my house. We start by sleeping in and then, whenever the mood strikes us, we slowly gather in the kitchen for breakfast which always consists of leftovers. No, not the turkey or stuffing. On this morning, we pull out any leftover appetizers and desserts (of which there are many), pile everything on the table and casually graze for what sometimes seems like hours.

This is without a doubt my favorite holiday tradition. No one is in a rush, no guests are expected, no cooking is required and we can all just ease into our day with laughter and good food.

The rest of the day is sometimes spent hanging out on the couch reading or talking (if we’re feeling particularly lazy), or shopping. Dinner is usually out (since I refuse to cook) and is as far away from traditional Thanksgiving fare as we can get.

Then when the day is over, we return home to, you guessed it, more time on the couch in front of a roaring fire. It’s at this point in the day that I usually crave something warm to drink and what could be better than a glass of warm Mulled Wine based on a recipe from non other than Ina Garten.

In her typical way, Ina’s recipe brings all the fall flavors of red wine, apple cider, cloves, star anise, orange, cinnamon and honey, together in a matter of minutes to create the coziest and most festive drink of the season. Just thinking about it makes me want to cuddle up on the couch under a thick UGG blanket with Remy snoring by my side and my family spread out all over our family room laughing, talking and planning the rest of our holiday season.

I hope that you’ll give this Mulled Wine recipe a whirl. If you do, please let me know what you think or tag me on Instagram. I always love hearing from everyone and seeing pictures of anything that you might make. And above all, thank you so much for stopping by.
